Fri, November 11, 2005 - 8:39 AMMOTHER FUCKERS!!! That's such bullshit... hopefully they'll get picked up on cable. It's a sad day... -

Re: Fox cancels Arrested Development
Fri, November 11, 2005 - 8:41 AMWhat are they trying to do, kill us? One hour in Nov. and then no more until Dec. 5th and now cancellation? Crazy like a Fox has a whole new meaning...

Re: Fox cancels Arrested Development
Fri, November 11, 2005 - 9:36 AMidiots...move it to after the simpsons and before family guy. it would be a ratings boon.

Re: Fox cancels Arrested Development
Fri, November 11, 2005 - 9:55 AMI can't even begin to describe how much this annoys me. Sadly, though, it doesn't surprise me. Fox killed it the moment they moved it to Monday opposite football. When I saw them air two episodes this Monday opposite what was clearly the biggest Monday night game of the season it was pretty obvious the show was disappearing.
Sigh. Why does all good television have such a short lifespan? -
-
Re: Fox cancels Arrested Development
Fri, November 11, 2005 - 9:59 AMhow can a show that wins multiple emmys get canceled? what's wrong with people!?
i hope someone else picks it up. is there a precedent for that? a show being canceled from one network to be picked up by another? -
-
Re: Fox cancels Arrested Development
Fri, November 11, 2005 - 10:15 AMWell, Buffy moved from WB to UPN but that wasn't a cancellation.
Also Fox brought back Family Guy, but that was after the DVD sales were astronomical.
Sports Night won a few Emmys for comedy writing and got cancelled after two seasons. Networks are more concerned with ratings than acclaim.
HBO would be a great home for the show...

Re: Fox cancels Arrested Development
Fri, November 11, 2005 - 10:31 AMI watch one television show. Otherwise I avoid TV like the plague. But that one show: Arrested Development. This sucks! Does anyone really think it will replaced with anything good??? -

It's Fox. I wouldn't bank on it...American Idol, Joe Millionaire, The Swan... -

well, duh... if people wanted to think, why would they watch tv? or get out of bed? or....
ah well. it's not the same, but we'll have the DVDs, and "my name is earl" is a pretty funny show over on NBC.

Re: Fox cancels Arrested Development
Fri, November 11, 2005 - 11:01 AMObviously we all think AD is amazing. However, I can see how it might be hard for someone who doesn't watch the show regularly to fully appreciate it. the humor is so brilliantly subtle. often the funniest parts are quick, related to something that happened many episodes ago. One scene in particular comes to mind - I believe it was George Michael who opened the refrigerator while talking to Michael and got blue paint on his hand from the handle. No other reference was made to Tobias' stint as a blue man several episodes earlier. Someone who didn't watch the show regularly would've NEVER picked up on it. For me, it was one of those scenes which had me declaring eternal allegience.
Along with that, the humor is definitely too smart, quick, subtle for the masses who need a laugh track to tell them when something is funny.
keeping my fingers crossed it's picked up again. or at the very least have a full 3rd season for DVD, regardless of whether it's televised or not. -

"And how's this for stomach-churning irony: The Bluths got the hook the same day that ABC extended a full-season order to Freddie."

Re: Fox cancels Arrested Development
Fri, November 11, 2005 - 4:00 PMand it's also a sad day because we will be no longer be able to see 7th Heaven.
In case you didn't hear it, I was being sarcastic.
As if AD's cancellation doesn't warrant it's own article.
screw Fox, screw Rupert Murdoch and screw all the Americans who think "Joey" and "Freddie" are funny. -
-
Re: Fox cancels Arrested Development
Fri, November 11, 2005 - 4:12 PMI'm really not surprised at all. This sucks, but at least it lasted much longer than many other great shows.
What the hell is Freddie?

Mon, November 14, 2005 - 12:40 PM<a show being canceled from one network to be picked up by another>
this happened with donal logue's show. i think fox cancelled it and then the wb picked it up. the show was called "grounded for life" -

Re: Fox cancels Arrested Development
Tue, November 15, 2005 - 5:47 AM"...a show being canceled from one network to be picked up by another..."
i think that also happened with "diff'rent strokes" in the 80s. the first ten million "what you talkin' 'bouts" were on NBC, the last season or two's worth were on, i think, ABC.

Re: Fox cancels Arrested Development
Fri, November 11, 2005 - 5:15 PMFor the person who said that AD uses a lot of inside jokes referring to older episodes, "Friends" and "Seinfeld" did that all the time.
At least the narrator on AD explains some of the references.
I think AD is the funniest show I've ever seen on televison. But, can you blame FOX for pulling the plug. Networks don't care how many awards a show gets. (unless that means that more people will watch the show) DVD sales of the first season sucked. No one tuned in to watch this season's premiere.
I know that some of the bad ratings is FOX's own fault for moving the show around so many times and under promoting it. -

Re: Fox cancels Arrested Development
Mon, November 14, 2005 - 7:01 PMIs it still playing on Monday? All I see on the schedule is 2 hours of Prison Break. -
-
Re: Fox cancels Arrested Development
Mon, November 14, 2005 - 7:15 PMNo, it's gone! Fox plans to show reruns of Prison Break on Mondays until January when they bring back American Idol and 24. Supposedly they aren't even going to play out the rest of the season--we have to wait for the dvd's. -

Re: Fox cancels Arrested Development
Mon, November 14, 2005 - 7:20 PMActually I heard that fox was going to bring AD back in december - december 5th if my memory can be trusted.
